TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Kawan Lama Group management stated that it is conducting an internal investigation into the alleged sexual harassment of one of its female employees. This issue was first revealed to the public after the victim's husband spoke up on Twitter under his account @jerangkah.
"In response to a thread on Twitter uploaded by @jerangkah regarding the recent alleged sexual harassment of one of our employees, Kawan Lama Group is investigating this case internally," reads the company's official statement posted on its Instagram @Kawanlamagroup on Sunday, August 14, 2022.
The management underlined that the company and its business units do not tolerate any forms of sexual harassment and are committed to creating a safe and comfortable work environment for their employees.
"Disciplinary action will be taken, especially for anyone who is proven to have committed sexual harassment in the company," it also said.
The management claimed they would work closely with the victim to process this issue further.
Previously, Twitter user Richo Pramono via his account wrote that his wife became a victim of sexual harassment in a Whatsapp group of what he called an established company. His wife was asked to be a photo model for his office products. One of the photographers, Dedy Christianto, took pictures of his wife from behind without consent while changing clothes for the products.
The photo, which showed her bra strap from behind, was sent to a chat group followed by inappropriate lewd comments by two members of the group. A female employee also chimed in on the inappropriate talks.
"He didn't use the photo for office needs, but for material to harass my wife in the Whatsapp group," Richo tweeted on August 13, 2022, adding that his wife has tendered her resignation to Kawan Lama Group.
