TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria assessed that the national strategic program will help Thousand Islands Regency to be one of the best tourist destinations in Jakarta.
“[We allot] no less than Rp94 trillion for reclamation project and so on in the Thousand Islands. Hopefully, if this works extraordinarily, it may be one of the best tourist places in Jakarta,” said Riza when giving a speech at the Regional Conference of the Indonesian Recreational Park Business Association (PUTRI) at Putri Duyung Resort, Ancol Dreamland Park, Pademangan, North Jakarta, Wednesday, August 10, 2022.
Riza said the provincial government is preparing a national strategic program in the Thousand Islands, hoping that tourism in the regency will compete with Bali. “Hopefully it doesn't lose to Bali,” he added.
The provincial government is also synergizing with the central government, including with the private sector, in the islands’ development projects for the next few years.
The development projects are expected to make the regency area be more attractive, integrated with the five city areas on the mainland of the province, and become a world-class tourist area.
However, Riza stopped short of detailing the estimated time required for the development project of the Thousand Islands. “It will take several years, alhamdulillah the central government supports the permit process for us to start building immediately. Inshallah (God's willing), this will be a proud project, not only for Jakarta but also for Indonesia,” he concluded.
