TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo in a press statement aired on the Presidential Secretariate’s Youtube channel called for complete transparency in investigating the death of police officer Brigadier Nofriansyah Yosua Hutabarat, which is also identified as Brigadier J. Jokowi also called for the truth to be told without hesitation.
“Since the beginning, I have mentioned this, investigate it completely, do not hesitate, do not cover anything up, reveal the truth as it is,” said the President who gave the statement from the Mempawah Regency, West Kalimantan Province on Tuesday, August 9.
He insisted that it is essential to maintain the National Police's image, so it will not reduce the public's trust toward the institution.
“This is what is crucial. The image of the National Police must be maintained,” said the former Jakarta governor.
As reported on Monday, Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law, and Security Affairs Mahfud MD publicly noted that the investigation into the death of Brigadier J, who died as the personal aide for former Insp. General Ferdy Sambo, must be handled with extra care. Three people have been named as suspects in the investigation so far.
The suspects are charged with Articles 338 and Article 340, which oversee homicide with intent and premeditated murder respectively, said Mahfud.
