TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) urged banks to switch from conventional to digital financial services. The Chief Executive of OJK Banking Supervision, Dian Ediana Rae, said digital transformation in the banking sector is a necessity.
“It is imperative for banks to digitize all aspects, including core-banking activities in the front-office, middle-office, and back-office functions, as well as changing the transaction process from analog channels to digital channels,” said Dian on Thursday, August 5, 2022.
OJK viewed the demand for digital acceleration in the banking sector as the beginning of the future. Moreover, the COVID-19 pandemic has prompted changes in various aspects of people's social and economic life in carrying out their activities.
Dian argued that this revolutionary development of technology and finance has increased public interest in experiencing digital experiences in every interaction with banking. Dynamic changes in the business environment also have an impact on digitalization, which increasingly pushes banks to be more customer-oriented.
“The demand for innovation and flexibility in presenting products and services that are tailored to the characteristics and the needs of customers is a must,” Dian emphasized.
