Metro Jaya Police Clarify Rumor; Latest Incident a Negligence, Not Shootout

4 August 2022 13:09 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Metro Jaya Police spokesperson grand commissioner Endra Zulpan on Thursday provided clarification regarding information related to an incident that stated that two policemen were involved in a shootout in Central Jakarta.

According to him, the incident that happened on Wednesday, August 3, was actually due to the negligence of one of the policemen instead of what the rumors suggest a shootout.

“It is not a shootout between National Police members,” said Zulpan on August 4, Antaranews reported.

Zulpan added that police confirmed that one of the injured victims was a member of the Polda Metro Jaya. "But it is true that those who fired the weapons were members of the Polda Metro Jaya," he confirmed.

However, Zulpan could not comment further regarding the incident where the police were injured by the firearm. He promised to extensively explain the case to reporters later in the day. "I'll explain this afternoon," said Zulpan.
