TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno on Wednesday announced that the Ministry he leads is aiming to create 4.4 million jobs in the creative economy sector by 2024. For the initial year of the program, he plans to make 1.1 million new jobs.
“This year we established 1.1 million new job opportunities and in 2024 we plan to expand that to 4.4 million jobs,” said Uno during his visit to Banda Aceh on August 3, Antaranews reported.
He added that in an effort to create jobs, people in the creative economy sector must put forth innovation, adaptation, and collaboration such as in craft, culinary, and fashion products and form digital marketing as a new breakthrough so that product sales can increase again.
The Minister reminded people that this sector must be the driver for economic revival amidst the current rising prices of daily staple goods.
"We want MSME products to be included in the digital economy, so with that, I believe that by 2024, 4.4 million jobs will be created," he said.
