TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned railway operator Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) stated that the ticket fares for the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train will range from Rp250,000 to Rp350,000.
“The tariff is still being studied in various aspects,” said the company’s vice president of public relations Joni Martinus on Wednesday, August 3, 2022.
Joni said Southeast Asia’s first fast train service will provide alternative transportation modes for people who want to travel to Jakarta or Bandung quickly, safely, and comfortably.
One train set consists of eight cars with a capacity of 601 passengers. The service is divided into VIP class for 18 passengers, First Class for 28 passengers, and Second Class for 555 passengers.
The train has a maximum speed of 350 kilometers per hour with a travel time from Jakarta to Bandung or vice versa at about 36 - 45 minutes.
The high-speed train will operate on a 142.3 kilometers double line that will stop at four stations, namely Halim Station (Jakarta), Karawang, Padalarang, and Tegalluar (Bandung).
At present, the investment progress of the high-speed rail project has reached 85 percent. Meanwhile, the physical progress has hit 76 percent.
KAI, through PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China or KCIC which is the consortium responsible for the project, targeted the dynamic test of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train to be carried out in November 2022 in coincidence with the G20 Presidency of Indonesia.
