Jakarta Police Urges Citayam Fashion Week to Be Held during Car Free Day

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Metro Police pleaded for Citayam Fashion Week to be held during the car free day or CFD every Sunday, instead of at the pedestrian crossing of Dukuh Atas which disturbs the traffic and causes congestion.
“There are regulations on the use of roads. Community activities may use roads as long as they do not disturb other road users. We will not kill the creativity of the people,” said Director of Metro Police Traffic Unit Sr. Comr. Latif Usman as quoted from the National Traffic Management Center (NTMC) page today, July 26, 2022.
Latif assessed that the street fashion week on the car free day will not distract other road users. If they insist on conducting it at the pedestrian crossing, the police will maintain the order and urge them to move to another location.
“If it disturbs traffic, we will stop the activity for the sake of public order. But if it doesn't interfere with traffic, go ahead,” Latif remarked.
Meanwhile, Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Sr. Comr. Komarudin said he would prepare a new location for Citayam Fashion Week in cooperation with local governments, including Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria
“As conveyed by the deputy governor, there are several suggested points, such as Sarinah and south of Monas,” said Komarudin.
