TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) successfully uncovered a drug factory in a house rented by suspects MS (34), NS (47), and AS (25) in the Riau Island’s Batam region. Authorities said that one of the suspects, MS, was a former Malaysian police member while the remaining two were Batam locals.
According to BNN chief Petrus Reinhard Golose, law enforcement officers managed to confiscate 5,302 grams worth of crystal meth and the raw material.
"Currently, we have sent several samples and checked at the BNN RI lab in Bogor, from the suspect's information and from this inspection process, we will check it later in the lab," said Petrus in Batam, Thursday, July 21, 2022.
Regarding the raw materials for making the illicit drugs, Petrus said that he still had to carry out a deeper investigation because this case had just been revealed. According to provisional information from the perpetrators, he said, the goods had been processed in Malaysia and was brought to Batam.
Authorities were tipped by information from members of the public stating that there is a factory making crystal methamphetamine in a rented house in a residential area in Batam. After the investigation, officers arrested MS, NS and AS, and seized 5,032 grams of evidence in the house, both in the form of ready-made meth and those still in the process of being manufactured.
