TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President director of state-energy firm Pertamina Patra Niaga, Alfian Nasution, said the company is committed to taking full responsibility for the deadly road accident that involved one of its fuel trucks that crashed into a packed traffic light queue causing multiple deaths at West Java’s Cibubur alternative road on Monday.
“Pertamina Patra Niaga is committed to taking full responsibility for the incident,” said Alfian Nasution at the Polri Kramat Jati Hospital in East Jakarta on July 18.
The company, he added, will compensate the victims’ post-mortem processes and treat the injured until full recovery. “It will all be entirely our responsibility,” he said. The KNKT or national transportation safety committee is currently conducting a full investigation in hopes of revealing the actual cause of the accident.
Pertamina, he explained, offers its condolences to the families of the victims and apologized for the tragedy that took the lives of many people, which according to the initial investigation was caused by a brake failure from the fuel truck as it arrived at the traffic light.
