Jakarta Rain Increases Alert Level in Manggarai, Angke Floodgates

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The rain pouring over Jakarta and the vicinity since last night has increased the water level in several floodgates in the city, the Jakarta Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) recorded.
The following is the list of water level increases at Jakarta floodgates as of 5 a.m. today, as quoted from the Jakarta BPBD website:
Katulampa: 20 cm, drizzling
Depok Post: 130 cm, drizzling
Manggarai BKB: 820 cm, drizzling, Alert level III
Karet: 450 cm, cloudy
Krukut Hulu Post: 180 cm, drizzling, Alert level III
Pesanggrahan Post: 290 cm, cloudy, Alert level II
Angke Hulu Post: 340 cm, cloudy, Alert level I
Pluit Dam: -185 cm, raining
Fish Market Sea: 190 cm, raining, Alert level III
Cipinang Hulu Post: 130 cm, cloudy
Sunter Hulu Post: 150 cm, raining, Alert level III
Pulo Gadung: 380 cm, drizzling
Rain with Lightning Potential in Jakarta
The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) warned the people to remain aleto on the potential of rain accompanied by lightning and strong wind in Jakarta on Saturday, July 16.
"Be aware of the potential of rain with lightning in South Jakarta and East Jakarta in the afternoon," the BMKG wrote on its official website in Jakarta, Saturday, July 16, Antara reported.
The weather condition in the cifromnce Saturday morning until night would be cloudy and sunny and followed by rain with lightning.
On early Saturday, the BMKG site also stated that the whole city area would be cloudy and day sunny in the morning, while the Thousand Islands would be cloudy.
At noon, rain would pour over West Jakarta area and cloudy in Central Jakarta. In South Jakarta, rain would fall accompanied by lightning.
The East Jakarta area was predicted to be raining with light intensity. North Jakarta and the Thousand Islands were forecasted to be cloudy.
At night, West Jakarta and Central Jakarta would be cloudy. South Jakarta and East Jakarta would be raining with light intensity. Meanwhile, North Jakarta and the Thousand Islands would be cloudy.
On Sunday, BMKG forecasted that the entire Jakarta city area would be cloudy, while the Thousand Islands was predicted to be showered with light rain.
