TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta provincial government has decided to hold the Eid prayer (Eid al-Adha) at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) which will fall on Sunday, July 10. The government also announced that Muslim residents who intend to conduct prayers at the newly-built stadium must already be vaccinated with the booster vaccine and always wear a proper face mask.
Citing Antaranews, Jakarta acting-secretary Sigit Wijatmoko at City Hall on July 6 said “Complete your boosters and support a safe and healthy Eid al-Adha prayer.”
According to Sigit, the Jakarta provincial government has coordinated its efforts to host the Eid prayer with the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), the Indonesian Mosque Council (DMI), along with other religious organizations. He assured people that hosting the prayers there meets religious requirements.
The Eid prayer will be held at the stadium’s West Ramp, East Ramp, North concourse, and South of JIS. Another location has been prepared if rain falls on Sunday. This is the second time JIS had been used to accommodate a religious event with the first being the Eid al-Fitr prayers back in May.
