Jakarta to Build More Parks Similar to Tebet Eco Park

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Parks and Forest Agency planned to establish public parks similar to Tebet Eco Park. This is also proposed by the Jakarta Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) so that such green open space is not only available in the southern area of the capital.
“Perhaps, the decision-makers didn't think about [creating parks] like that in the past,” said the agency’s head of the planning department Hendrianto at a media briefing on nature-based solutions for Jakarta residents at The Westin, South Jakarta, on Wednesday, July 6. 2022.
The public park is now expected to exist in each city area. However, Hendrianto said the scale might not be as big as the park on Jalan Tebet Barat Raya, South Jakarta.
“We have actually created small parks in the past years with the same approach of nature-based solutions,” he added. “But maybe they are not as complex as Tebet Eco Park.”
He acknowledged that residents wish for one-stop service parks as offered by Tebet Eco Park. This is the homework for the Jakarta Parks and Forest Agency. He also claimed that the city administration also wanted similar parks in the north, east, west, and other areas of the city.
“One of our programs is the Cicin Reservoir. But this is still being planned, hopefully, it can be carried out according to our plans,” said Hendrianto.
