TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Deputy Health Minister Dante Saksono Harbuwono at the world medical association conference in Jakarta said that the current number of confirmed Covid-19 cases has started to drop even though the positivity rate is still relatively high.
“The curve has started to flatten this week, even though the positivity rate remains high, but the numbers are starting to stay constant, and hopefully Jakarta has reached its peak,” said the Deputy Minister to journalists present at the event on July 4.
Nationwide, the additional number of confirmed cases on Monday, July 4, was 1,434 new cases, which is a significant reduction compared to the two weeks prior that saw an average of over 2,000 cases on a daily basis.
However, he strongly urged the general public to remain vigilant and wear proper face masks despite the pandemic situation that seems to slowly improve.
Previously reported, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo announced that booster vaccine shots will be used as a requirement for large public activities and public transportation. The country is still logging an average booster vaccination spread of 20 percent.
