TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Transportation Agency recorded an increase in the number of passengers of MRT, LRT, and Transjakarta following the transition of the train’s service system or the 5th Switch Over at Manggarai Station.
“The increase is quite significant because maybe the integrated system works,” said the agency’s head of railways Renny Dwi Astuti in an online discussion about the operational arrangement of Manggarai Station in Jakarta, Wednesday, June 29, 2022.
After the implementation of SO-5 which kick-started May 28, TransJakarta logged a surge in bus passenger numbers at Manggarai Station for several routes including Manggarai Station-Universitas Indonesia (UI).
“An increase has also occurred for the Manggarai Station-Blok M route, the Tebet-Karet Station route via Patra Kuningan, and the Tebet-Karet Station route via the underpass,” she outlined.
Before the transition policy from April 28 to May 27, there were 36,513 people took the Manggarai-UI route. The figure rose to 57,127 after the transition or from May 28 to June 27.
With the SO-5 policy, Commuter Line or KRL passengers from Bogor Station to Sudirman Station can now directly head to Gondangdia Station without having to transit at Manggarai Station. “[Because there is] integrated facility of TransJakarta at Gondangdia Station,” Renny added.
The number of MRT Jakarta passengers also experienced a surge after the system switch at Manggarai Station. From May 28 to June 27, the figure reached 1.88 million from previously 1.45 million.
