TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) confirmed that Holywings bar and restaurant in the capital only paid the restaurant tax, not the nightclub tax.
This was conveyed by the agency’s head of tax revenue unit II Carto during a meeting with Commission B of the Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) in the DPRD Building, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, June 29, 2022.
Carto cited the Bapenda data that 12 outlets of Holywings operating in the city only owned the business licensing as restaurants, instead of a nightclub.
“There are 12 tax objects that based on the permit from the OSS (online single submission system) are registered as restaurants,” he said, Wednesday.
Bapenda strived to optimize tax collection by installing an online system in each outlet that has been in place since May 2022. Its tax payments have been monitored and accepted.
Following the closure of all Holywings outlets, Bapenda attempted to carry out inspections, as well as collect the tax for this month.
Member of DPRD Commission B Wahyu Dewanto suspected the practice of tax evasion by Holywings. The Gerindra Party politician thus asked Bapenda to report the bar and restaurant management to law enforcement.
“We ask Bapenda to make a report on tax evasion if it is proven in the July report,” Wahyu said during the meeting.
Previously, the Jakarta Entertainment Entrepreneurs Association chairperson Hana Suryani revealed that Holywings is not a member of the entertainment entrepreneur association albeit it is engaged in the entertainment business. Its tax imposition is also known to be restaurant tax only, sparking jealousy among entrepreneurs of other nightlife establishments.
