TEMPO.CO, JakartaState-owned bank PT Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) handed assistance to young athletes who will potentially succeed the Indonesian Badminton Star Greysia Polii who just retired from her professional career.

At the "Greysia Polii's Testimonial Day" event held by BNI here on Sunday, these young athletes come from two big clubs that had trained Polii, namely PB Jaya Raya and Eng Hian Badminton Academy.

"Before Greysia Polli became great as she is today and was able to score international achievements in various competitions, she had gotten through long struggles with the two clubs," BNI Vice President of Corporate Communication Selly Adriatika explained.

According to Adriatika, through assistance, the successors of Greysia Polli are expected to be the nation's pride globally by winning many achievements.

Adriatika continued that BNI is committed to supporting the development of badminton sports and its coaching for young athletes to continue to yield international historical achievements.

"We are very grateful because BNI is always given the opportunity to contribute to Indonesia's badminton development which always records worldwide victories," she said.

Meanwhile, on the same occasion, Chairman of the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) Agung Firman Sampurna lauded all parties who have supported all athletes from their biggest moments until their retirement.

"Thank you to all the spectators who attended, fellow athletes, and officials. We also thank all parties including BNI that support us and the athletes to make worldwide achievements," Sampurna said.

Sampurna believed that BNI's move to support the two badminton clubs that had raised Polii was the right step, hence, he hoped the next athletes will emerge to represent Indonesia internationally.

Upon her retirement as an athlete, Greysia Polii will join the Ministry of Youth and Sports as a state apparatus to keep contributing to Indonesia's badminton sports, Youth and Sports Minister Zainudin Amali informed.
