TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI), along with the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC), announced on Friday that Bali Province will host the 2023 ANOC World Beach Games on August 5-15, 2023.

Apart from being the host of the ANOC World Beach Games, Bali will also host the 27th ANOC General Assembly on August 13-15, 2023.

Chairperson of KOI Raja Sapta Oktohari, in a written statement received here on Friday, stated that his side is proud to be able to host the 206 national Olympic committees (NOCs) from various countries in the world.

Oktohari expressed optimism that implementation of the 2023 ANOC World Beach Games would be able to become part of the efforts to drive Indonesia's sports revival.

"We are proud to be able to push and promote Indonesia on the global stage," he affirmed.

The KOI chairperson emphasized that the committee will ensure sustained sports development throughout the country.

Acting ANOC President Robin Mitchell expressed his gratitude for the partnership with the Indonesian government and KOI while voicing his keenness to presenting an unforgettable event to the public.

“We are delighted to confirm Bali as the host of the second edition of the ANOC World Beach Games. Bali has some of the most breathtaking beaches in the world that will provide the ultimate backdrop for the spectacular sporting competition in 2023," Mitchell remarked.

A total of 10 main sports to be competed in the second edition of the ANOC World Beach Games in Bali comprise aquathlon, beach handball, beach football, beach tennis, 4x4 beach volleyball, beach water polo, beach wrestling, individual kata, kiteboarding, and five-kilometer open water swimming.

However, the figure may change, as the organizing committee is still allowed to propose several additional sports, and the final number will be announced in the next few weeks.

World Beach Games was first held in Doha, Qatar, in 2019, with a total of 13 sports. More than 1,200 athletes and 97 NOCs participated in the event.
