Jokowi Reveals Figures Worthy of Being His Successor

10 June 2022 23:32 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaPresident Joko "Jokowi" Widodo revealed on Friday, June 10, 2022, that there are criteria of figures who are worthy of being his successor. One of them is having the willingness to resume his programs.

"Whoever the leader, the programs must be continued so there will be continuity," said the President in his speech at the 50th anniversary of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI) event at JCC Senayan, Central Jakarta, Friday, June 10, 2022.

Jokowi underlined that his successor must not be someone who does not want to resume programs that have been carried out during his term. Continuing the existing programs, the President added, could help Indonesia to become more advanced.

Moreover, amid global uncertainty, Jokowi said that the 2024 general elections must not worsen the situation in Indonesia. "I bet all will have headaches because the economy hit by the pandemic has not been completely recovered but it is added with the war in Ukraine. So don't add more burden to our domestic affairs. Let’s take care of it together. Agree?" Jokowi remarked.

The state head further reminded the current global crisis, mentioning massive inflation that hit many countries and rising prices of food and energy that exacerbate this condition.

To get out of this crisis, Jokowi encouraged all cadres of HIPMI to purchase domestic goods. Indonesia could survive the crisis with high domestic consumption.
