LINE Indonesia Respond to Mass Layoff Rumors

2 June 2022 21:06 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - LINE Indonesia is rumored to have laid off some of its workers after reports suggest the digital messaging service will close one of its popular features, LINE Today.

Country Manager LINE Indonesia Fanny Verona explained through a written statement dated Thursday, June 2, 2022, that this situation has been "disseminated to clients and partners in Indonesia and gave options to support their business until the end of the contract."

Verona elaborated that the company will focus on fintech services in Indonesia but denies rumors about the massive layoff. "We can confirm that the rumors regarding the 80 people are untrue."

In regards to its LINE Today services, Fanny confirmed that users are still able to access news content and other stories apart from committing to messenger services as the company remains committed to the Indonesian market.
