TEMPO.CO, JakartaA total of 150 disability organizations were set to file a letter on Monday, May 30, 2022, demanding Finance Minister Sri Mulyani respect the rights of persons with disabilities and restore the rights of DH, an employee of the ministry who was deemed unfairly dismissed in 2020.

“The letter will be submitted at 10:00 a.m. to the office of the Finance Ministry on Jalan Dr. Wahidin Raya, Sawah Besar District," said a member of Perhimpunan Jiwa Sehat or the Association for Healthy Souls, Ratna Dewi, in a written statement received by Tempo today, May 30, 2022.

DH was an employee of the Tax Directorate General at the Finance Ministry with a mental disability as he suffered from paranoid schizophrenia. He had worked for more than 10 years but was dismissed as he was considered absent from work.

“In fact, it was due to him suffering from schizophrenia, which at that time was not handled,” said Ratna.

As his condition improved after treatment, DH submitted a request letter to return to work but was rejected by the Finance Ministry and during an administrative appeal at the State Civil Apparatus Advisory Agency (BPASN). Besides dismissal, DH is potentially sued for compensation of hundreds of millions of rupiah for violating the official contract.

“At present, DH is filing a lawsuit for the restoration of his rights through the State Administrative High Court,” said Ratna.

The Head of the Communications and Information Services Bureau of the Finance Ministry, Rahayu Puspasari, has not yet responded to Tempo's request for a response regarding the demand letter for Sri Mulyani.
