Thousands of Tourists Flock to Mount Rinjani amid Eid Holidays

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The relaxed requirement along with the increasing hiking quota the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) enacted during the three-week period following the Eid celebration saw thousands of outdoor enthusiasts flock to Mount Rinjani

Mount Rinjani National Park Hall representative Budi Soesmardi on Tuesday said there were 3,421 visitors that arrived at the mountain park area during this period with 3,178 domestic tourists and 243 international tourists.

“They entered the area from the three main entrance gates in Senaru, Torean, and Sembalun,” said Budi on May 24.

As of May 4, the visitor quota had been increased from 350 to 525 and saw hundreds of tourists hike the mountain from a total of six entrance gates.

The three aforementioned gates were the most popular among tourists while alternative routes currently promoted by the national park hall such as Timbanuh, Tete Batu, and Aik Berik were the least logging under 200 visitors.

Mount Rinjani National Park not only offers the experience of hiking the mountain that rises to 3,726 meters but also offers fishing experiences at the Segara Anak Lake and the hot springs of Aik Kalak. Head of the Rinjani national park Dedy Asriady said two-to-three days would be the optimum duration to adventure the area.
