TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan expressed gratitude for the declining number of COVID-19 cases in the capital. He hoped that the current condition would last long so that the city could be free from the public mobility restrictions or PPKM policy.
"Hopefully, we will no longer need to be in PPKM," said Anies in Bidadari Island, Thousand Islands on Tuesday, May 24, 2022.
The central government announced that the PPKM level in Jakarta is now at the lowest level or level 1 effective until June 6, 2022. This is noted in the Instruction of the Home Affairs Minister No. 26 of 2022 concerning PPKM Level 3, Level 2, and Level 1 in the Java and Bali region.
With the status, offices are allowed to be open at full capacity or enact 100 percent work from office policy. However, the use of PeduliLindungi COVID-19 app remains mandatory.
Anies asserted that the improving pandemic condition in the capital was thanks to joint work of health personnel to security forces. He voiced gratitude to the police, the military (TNI), the Transportation Agency, the Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), and other field officers involved.
"Today is a new chapter and we don't want to go back to yesterday's situation where we faced many challenges. Inshallah, the condition will improve further and safer than before," Anies Baswedan hoped.
