TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) asked the public who know about the whereabouts of graft fugitive Harun Masiku to file a report to the agency to be followed up comprehensively.
“We continue to call for the public’s participation, that anyone who really knows HM's whereabouts to inform the KPK,” said the agency’s acting spokesman Ali Fikri on Monday, May 23, 2022.
Ali explained that information about where the fugitive lives should not be announced in public because it will actually hinder the tracking process.
“Making [such a report] in a public space is feared that it will hamper the tracking process,” he underlined.
Ali ensured that the anti-graft body has never stopped looking for Harun who allegedly bribed General Elections Committee (KPU) commissioner Wahyu Setiawan. He also said that the KPK had coordinated with the Law and Human Rights Ministry and the National Police to monitor the movement of the former PDIP legislative candidate and arrest him.
“Besides, the KPK has also coordinated with many international institutions to help find the fugitive,” he added.
Previously, the former head of the KPK Investigation Task Force, Harun Al Rasyid, claimed that he knew the fugitive’s whereabouts. However, he said he was not ready to reveal it as it was still confidential and could not be disclosed to the public yet.
“I'm not ready to comment on it yet,” said Harun Al Rashid in a short message, Sunday, May 22, 2022.
