TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's National Commission for Disabilities (KND) on Wednesday, May 19 joined the Microsoft Enabler program, an initiative that brings together non-profit organizations, employer partners, and people with disabilities in the Asia Pacific to create an inclusive work environment. Indonesia is the seventh country to participate in the Microsoft Enabler program after the Philippines, South Korea, New Zealand, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Thailand, with KND being the first partner in Indonesia.

The inauguration was carried out at the 'Microsoft Indonesia Accessibility Forum', which was also conducted online, to welcome the Global Accessibility Awareness Day on May 20.

Through this program, Microsoft and KND will actively collaborate – particularly with organizations of people with disabilities, the Ministry of Manpower, and local governments–to provide people with disabilities with the technology skills required to support them in the workplace through various training and certifications.

"We are optimistic that technology can enable people with disabilities to do various types of work in various sectors," said Eka Prastama, KND Commissioner.

Through the Microsoft Enabler program, he added, KND aims to fulfill the right to work and participation for people with disabilities throughout Indonesia, by encouraging the creation of a more equitable workplace in the country.

"We hope to open bigger doors for talents with disabilities. Enable the talents to work, innovate, and achieve more on an ongoing basis," he said.
