TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Trade Minister Muhammad Lutfi introduced a cooking oil program at affordable prices dubbed MigorRakyat via a Warung Pangan mobile application. The program is aimed at providing the bulk commodity at affordable prices of Rp14,000 per liter.
He claimed that the program has been available in 1,200 areas in Java and Sumatra. “This is a program for the availability and affordability of cooking oil from the government,” said Lutfi while reviewing the program implementation at a shop in Makasar District, East Jakarta, Tuesday, May 17, 2022.
Lutfi explained that the program has been running before Eid al-Fitr and would be expanded to 10,000 points throughout Indonesia in the first phase. He emphasized that the program was only intended for traditional shops or retailers in densely-populated areas. The market point will also be determined by the Trade Ministry.
“We choose traditional or retail markets that are close to the densely-populated areas. We hope that this will reduce the queues [for the commodity] and improve the distribution system for bulk cooking oil at a price of Rp14,000 [per liter],” he said.
Minister Lutfi mentioned that the MigorRakyat program is the result of a collaboration between a cooking oil factory and the SOEs food holding, ID Food. The government, he added, is focusing on the availability and affordability of cooking oil until the price and supply are stable.
