President Jokowi Arrives in Indonesia After Completing U.S. Trip

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo safely arrived back in Indonesia after completion of a working visit to Washington D.C., the United States.

The GIA-1 presidential flight, operated by Garuda Indonesia B777-300, with a special presidential livery that was carrying aboard the President and his entourage, landed at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, Banten, at 5:15 a.m. local time (UTC +7) after cruising for some eight hours from the Abu Dhabi International Airport, the United Arab Emirates.

President Jokowi and Iriana were welcomed by Vice President Ma'ruf Amin and Second Lady Wury Ma'ruf Amin, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Indonesian National Armed Forces Commander General Andika Perkasa, and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

Acting Governor of Bandung Almuktabar and President Director of Garuda Indonesia Irfan Setiaputra also welcomed the president and his entourage at the airport.

During his working visit to the United States, the president participated in the ASEAN-US Special Summit in Washington D.C. and visited the SpaceX facility in Boca Chica, Texas, and met SpaceX founder Elon Musk.

After completion of the visit to the United States, the president undertook another trip to Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates, to express his condolences to the UAE government and people as well as the family of the late Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who passed away on Friday (May 13).

Coordinating Minister of Maritime and Investment Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Trade Minister Muhammad Lutfi, and Minister of Investment/Head of Investment Coordinating Board Bahlil Lahadalia were some officials that formed the presidential entourage during president Jokowi's working visit.
