TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The European Union authorizes the use of Indonesia's PeduliLindungi app in its territory starting May 11, 2022. On Thursday, 5 May, the government of Indonesia and the European Union established a cooperation to recognize each other's Covid-19 vaccine certificates registered in PeduliLindungi and the EU Digital Covid Certificate apps.

With this implementation, the Covid-19 vaccination certificate issued by Indonesia is equivalent to that issued by the European Government, in accordance with EU regulation no.2021/953.

The equalization allows the verification of authenticity, validity, and integrity of certificates issued by either system.

The Indonesian Foreign Ministry's Economic Recovery Acceleration Team's (TPPE) secretary, Lintang Paramita, said that this mutual recognition of vaccination certificates will make things easier in foreign travels.

Travelers will only need to show their PeduliLindung app, and "show the QR code to EU authorities, they can immediately read it," Paramita said after a press conference at the Foreign Affairs Ministry building in Jakarta, Thursday.

With this equalization, Indonesia joins 40 other countries whose vaccine certificate systems have been recognized by the EU. This cooperation automatically involves the 27 member states of the European Union.

The provisions for international travel between the European Union and Indonesia continue to comply with the provisions of health protocols applied.
