TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Residents of Kampung Marlina in Penjaringan, North Jakarta expressed worry that the distribution of clean water to their homes will be disrupted when the dry season arrives. They claimed that even during the rainy season, the supply was not smooth.
“Previously, from January, February, until March, the water supply was on-off. From the end of April until now, it was normal again,” said the neighborhood unit or RT head Yuli when met by Tempo on Thursday, May 12, 2022.
According to her, the residents of Kampung Marlina are facing a clean water crisis regardless of the weather season. “Our complaints are about on-off water supply. The supply is smooth just recently.”
The Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) said there are 15 sub-districts that are prone to water crises during the dry season. Head of Jakarta BPBD Isnawa Aji encouraged residents to use water wisely during the upcoming dry season.
The agency has also coordinated with the mayors and regents, as well as the Water Resources Agency and city-owned tap water company PAM Jaya to calculate the need for clean water.
