TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Minister of Cooperatives and MSMEs Teten Masduki in an event on Thursday highlighted the production weakness of micro, medium, and small enterprises (MSMEs) that still lose to the domination of imported products in eCommerce platforms.
He made this statement in the ‘Tempo BNI the bilateral forum’ at The Langham in Jakarta on May 12, “We intend to push the productive sector as 63.3 percent are still in the trade sector.”
Minister Teten stressed that the government is currently focusing on strengthening the production of MSMEs by focusing on the production sector, namely the food, agriculture, fishery, and livestock sectors.
The government is also currently developing a business model for the corporatization of farmers, namely consolidating individual farmers, small farmers, and fishermen to join cooperatives meant to include it in the economy of scale.
Teten also said that 97 percent of employment is provided by the micro sector. To provide quality employment, MSMEs must be strengthened.
"We can't let the small ones do their own thing, but they must be consolidated so that they can enter into economies of scale," he said, "We have to prepare the entire ecosystem so that they can grow and develop so that we can provide quality jobs.”
