Passenger Traffic Up 38% in Q1: Pelindo

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo, the state-owned port corporation also known as IPC, recorded operational and financial performance growth in the first quarter of 2022. The company is confident its performances will continue to improve.
"Along with improving economic growth and ongoing transformation within the company, we are optimistic that Pelindo's performance will continue to improve and meet the expectations of shareholders," Pelindo president director Arif Suhartono said in a written statement received in Jakarta, Thursday, May 12.
According to Arif, containers reached 4.2 million TEUS, up by 2 percent (yoy). The volume of delivered goods reached 37 million tons, an 8 percent increase compared to the previous year.
Meanwhile, ship/boat traffic in and out of ports was recorded at 283 million GT, or up by 1 percent annually. Passenger traffic reached 2.5 million people, a 38 percent increase.
With increasing operations, Pelindo's finances also improved. The company's revenue in March reached Rp7.1 trillion or up by 7 percent (yoy). Pelindo also posted an increase in net profit by 46 percent (yoy) to Rp670 billion.
"Pelindo will continue efforts to maintain smooth flow of goods and passengers at the port through 24/7 operational readiness, reliable human resources, supported by technology and a renewed digitalization system covering all port service activities," Arif said.
