Jokowi, ASEAN Leaders to Meet Joe Biden at the White House

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo, or Jokowi, is scheduled to meet United States President Joe Biden on Thursday along with a number of ASEAN leaders in Washington D.C. at the US-ASEAN Summit.
Citing the U.S government website state.gov, Biden will receive the ASEAN leaders at the White House. And take a commemorative family photo which will be followed by a dinner event to close the first day’s event.
Prior to meeting the President, ASEAN leaders will meet with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi at noon which will be followed by hosting a bipartisan working lunch with the ASEAN leaders and other members of Congress.
The US-ASEAN Summit will also see ASEAN leaders meet with American business leaders to discuss economic cooperation over light refreshments.
Previously reported, President Jokowi explained that Indonesia has been trusted to be the coordinator of the US-ASEAN partnership from 2021 to 2024. Therefore, he hopes that this Special Summit will result in cooperation that can contribute to peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.
"We have a responsibility to make the Indo-Pacific a peaceful, stable, and prosperous region," said Jokowi.
The President and his entourage are scheduled to return to Indonesia on Sunday, May 15.
