TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta-owned developer PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) stated that the Formula E electric vehicle race or known as Jakarta E-Prix 2022 is an example of a racing event that emphasizes sustainability value and is presently the only green sportainment in Indonesia.
Jakpro’s VP of Infrastructure and General Affairs Irawan Sucahyono said the infrastructure for the international event was designed for sustainability so that the circuit track could still be used after this year’s race completes.
“Formula E in Indonesia will be an interesting event. We can see that this [underlines] a sustainability theme,” said Irawan in an online discussion titled Sustainability Talk Series #1 “World First Net Zero Sport Season 8 – Jakarta Sustainability Perspective” held by Tempo in tandem with Jakpro Group on Monday, May 9, 2022.
The design of the E-Prix circuit, he explained, is different from the F1 circuit. While the F1 circuit addresses more performance factors, the Formula E circuit prioritizes performance, efficiency, and sustainability.
Additionally, the circuit would have an activation zone. The new feature allows cars to be on the Attack Mode which gives them a power boost from the standard 200 kW to 225 kW.
Irawan also said that a week before Jakarta E-Prix 2022 kick-starts, the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) was scheduled to conduct inspections to issue a homologation license for the circuit.
