TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice President Ma’ruf Amin wished all Indonesians a happy Eid al-Fitr 1 Syawal 1443 Hijri in a video posted on his official Instagram account @kyai_marufami while calling on everyone to abide by the health protocols in celebrating it.
“Happy Eid al-Fitr 1443 Hijri and may you celebrate it with your beloved family and relatives, please forgive me for my physical and emotional wrongdoings,” Ma’ruf Amin said in a video uploaded Sunday, May 1, 2022.
In the one-minute-and-fifty-second-long video, the Vice President said this year’s Eid was special because it was the first time Indonesians could celebrate it in their hometowns after a two-year restriction due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Alhamdulillah, our efforts and prayers in supressing the spread of COVID-19 had borne fruit and received blessings from God so that Indonesians can travel back to their hometowns, which they must have been longing for,” he said.
Ma’ruf Amin also called on everyone to comply strictly with the health protocols, so that “the happiness of sillaturahim [communal bonds] be compounded with strict implementation of the health protocols to avert a surge of COVID-19 cases after the Eid holidays.”
