TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan along with his entourage met with the CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk.
Luhut’s spokesperson, Jodi Mahardi, said that the meeting discussed the potential partnerships and investments between Indonesia and the U.S.-based company. He claimed Musk had invited President Joko Widodo to a meeting.
“The discussions were more about nickel processing opportunities and electric vehicle (EV) batteries in Indonesia. Musk also invited Jokowi to meet at the SpaceX facility in Texas and also touched on Star Link,” said Jodi to Bisnis.com, on Tuesday, April 26.
The first to report about the meeting was Pandu Sjahrir, nephew of Minister Luhut and coal mine entrepreneur, on Tuesday, when he updated the news from his social media account. Minister Luhut was accompanied by the Chairman of the Advisory Council of Kadin and President Director of PT Bakrie & Brothers Tbk, Anindya Bakrie.
There was also the Indonesian Ambassador to the United States Rosan Roeslani and former Bukalapak CEO Rachmat Kaimuddin, who now holds a position at the Maritime Affairs and Investments ministry. Pandu Sjahrir said that Elon Musk was really excited in talking about Indonesia’s nickel industry growth and electric vehicles.
