4.8 M Earthquake Shakes Sukabumi in Early Hours of Tuesday

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said an earthquake measuring 4.8 magnitudes on the Richter scale jolted Sukabumi Regency in the early hours of Tuesday, April 26, 2022.
“A 4.8 magnitude quake at a depth of 25 kilometers occurs on April 26, 2022, at 00:01:06 Western Indonesian Time (WIB),” announced the agency via its Twitter account on Tuesday.
It was outlined that the quake was centered at sea, 56 kilometers southeast of Sukabumi, or precisely at 7.48 degrees south latitude and 106.68 degrees east longitude.
The tremor was felt in Sukabumi at level II-III of the Modified Mercalli Intensity (MMI) scale, South Cianjur at level II-III, as well as Garut and Pangandaran at level II.
The BMKG thus asked the public to stay alert about the potential for aftershocks.
