Public Trust For Jokowi Tumbles In 2022 In Latest Charta Politika Survey

26 April 2022 00:18 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Pollster Charta Politika in one of its recent surveys discovered that public confidence towards President Joko Widodo or Jokowi continues to decline in 2022 from 84.9 percent in January of 2022, to 81.0 percent in February 2022, and the latest 75.8 percent recorded in April 2022.

"Looking at the trend, nearly every state institution has seen a drop in the survey in April. The greatest drops tend to be suffered by the Presidential institution," said Charta Politika executive director Yunarto Wijaya in a webinar on Monday, April 25, 2022.

The pollster’s survey involved 1,220 respondents chosen based on random sampling between April 10 to 17 across Indonesian provinces with a 2.83 percent margin of error.

Moreover, regarding the survey, the Indonesian National Army recorded the highest number in public trust with 85.2 percent. The president ranks second with 75.8 percent, followed by the Indonesian National Police (Polri) in third place with 70.7 percent, and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in fourth with 69.9 percent.

Yunarto claimed that this is a new pattern in their surveys about public trust as the police institution would often rank lower than the KPK in previous years when public support for the antigraft commission was still high.

The backmarkers in the list of trusted agencies are the House of Representatives (DPR), Regional Representatives Council (DPD), and finally the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR).
