TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - AirAsia Indonesia announced it would reactivate 11 international routes and increase flight frequency ahead of the 2022 Eid al-Fitr holiday. The additional routes connect more cities in Indonesia and a number of cities in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Australia.
President Director of the low-cost carrier Veranita Yosephine explained that the significant addition of flight frequency and international routes will boost the number of available seats to and from Indonesia to more than 48,000 per week.
“The reactivation of these 11 routes will increase the total number of AirAsia international routes to and from Indonesia to 17 routes, which are operated by AirAsia Indonesia, AirAsia Malaysia, and AirAsia Thailand. Besides, AirAsia currently operates 12 domestic routes,” she said in an official statement quoted on Sunday, April 24.
The addition and reactivation of these routes were taken in response to the efforts of the government and aviation authorities in Indonesia, Southeast Asia countries, and Australia to relax international travel requirements, such as the no-quarantine policy for fully vaccinated travelers, free visas, and reactivation of international airports.
Veranita also said the ease of travel policy has significantly increased the interest of the international community to visit Indonesia and vice versa. In line with this, AirAsia urged all passengers to always comply with the health protocols against COVID-19 for common good.
