Metro Jaya Police to Apply Odd-Even Policy during Eid Homecoming Season

25 April 2022 07:02 WIB

Eid Homecomers breaking through the road barrier to be able to continue their homecoming journey towards Cikampek at the Cikarang Barat Toll Exit 4, Thursday, May 6, 2021. This is done as a result of the blocking of vehicles related to the ban on going home for Lebaran 2021 which starts from May 6 to 17 as an effort to anticipate the risk of an increase cases of COVID-19 transmission ahead of the celebration of Eid al-Fitr 1442 H. TEMPO.CO, JakartaMetro Jaya Police were set to implement the odd-even traffic policy on toll roads during this year’s Eid homecoming or mudik season.

The National Police Traffic Corps prepared three traffic schemes on toll roads during the long holiday of Eid al-Fitr starting April 28, viz. contraflow policy, one-way system, and odd-even policy.

The odd-even system will be enforced along with the one-way traffic policy from April 28 until May 1, 2022. While the traffic policy the return flow will be implemented on May 6-9, 2022.

The implementation of the three traffic schemes, however, depends on the real traffic conditions. Yet the contraflow policy will be enforced on roads from Jakarta to the east of Java Island.

According to the Traffic Metro Police Director Sr. Comr. Sambodo Purnomo Yogo, the police will not issue ticketing during the implementation of odd-even traffic policy on toll roads. Instead, vehicles with license plates that do not match the date will be asked to leave the highway and are directed to arterial roads.

“Vehicles that do not have the same plate number with the date will be taken to the nearest toll gate,” said Sambodo as quoted from the National Police's National Traffic Management Center’s (NTMC) website today, April 25, 2022.
