M4.9 Earthquake Strikes West Sumatra: BMKG

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) announced that a magnitude 5.0 earthquake hit the West Sumatra coastline in West Nias on Friday, April 22, at 03:23 local time.
BMKG head of earthquakes and tsunami center, Bambang Setiyo Prayitno, said that their analysis recalculated the strength of the quake at M4.9.
The center of the quake was 89 kilometers off the coast Southwest of West Nias in North Sumatra and at the depth of 19 kilometers
To date, no damages had been reported following the earthquake. BMKG ensured that it has not triggered the tsunami warning.
