TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno on Wednesday hosted a dinner event for representatives of G20 members following the launch of the Ministry's G20 side event program at the Hotel Indonesia Kempinski in Jakarta on April 20.
Minister Uno claims country representatives were all present at the dinner table and the event had carried out smoothly without mentions of the current global geopolitical tension between Russia - a G20 member - and other country members.
He elaborated that dinner table conversations mostly dwelled on issues related to tourism and creative economy along with attempts to collectively rejuvenate the economy hit by recession post-coronavirus pandemic.
"Surely, we want to promote peace and diplomacy. And tourism is an invigorating subject that is universally accepted," said Sandiaga, Antaranews reported.
Uno claims G20 country representatives interacted with each other and shared the spirit to rise amidst the pandemic. "Russian [representatives] were present, along with other G20 members," said the Minister.
Sandiaga expressed that Indonesia could take the lead in the G20 presidency amidst a situation full of challenging geopolitical conditions. Sandiaga emphasized that Indonesia does not want to shift from the main focus of the G20 presidency, namely Recover Together, Recover Stronger.
He then expressed hope that other members would contribute their best to succeed Indonesia's G20 presidency.
