TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria appreciated rapper Brian Imanuel Soewarno or Rich Brian for promoting the capital city at the 2022 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in the United States several days ago.
To the festival attendees, the 22-year-old rapper introduced himself from Jakarta and showcased the city’s icon National Monument or Monas as the backdrop for his performance. “There was a surprise at the U.S. biggest music festival, 2022 Coachella. That was really cool,” said Riza via his Instagram account on Tuesday, April 19, as quoted from Antara.
Riza also thanked another Indonesian singer, Niki Zefanya, who also performed at the annual music festival. The 23-year-old singer became the first Indonesian female singer to perform there along with world-class top musicians.
According to Riza, the two young musicians who are now working in the United States are on par with Asian musicians who have penetrated the global market. “Thank you @brianimanuel and @nikizefanya you are already on par with BTS, Black Pink. I'm sure you can surpass them,” he said, mentioning the singers’ social media accounts.
Apart from Rich Brian and Niki, another Indonesian male rapper Warren Hue also performed at the festival.
“For the young generation, you can succeed in anything as long as you focus and always ask for the prayers of your parents,” said Riza.
