TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta's Sawah Besar Police Sector said that 100 joint personnel were deployed to guard the Good Friday celebration at Jakarta Cathedral church in Central Jakarta, on April 15.

"The joint personnel is from Jakarta Metro Police and TNI (military), as well as Satpol PP who participated in providing security," said Sawah Besar police chief Comr. Maulana Mukarom, when contacted on Friday, April 15.

Maulana said the sterilization was done at 08:00 by the bomb disposal (Jibom) unit and the Satbrimob Polda Metro Jaya, including the unit K-9 to sweep near the Cathedral area. "Unit Jibom, Satbrimob PMJ, and unit K-9 have been combing the surrounding area of the Cathedral Church since 08:00," he said.

He explained the security measure went well and no traffic jams so there was no need to implement traffic engineering. “Thank God, it was conducive and we make sure that there is no traffic jam."

But he called on the public not to stop at Cathedral's main gate to drop off the passengers aiming to perform Good Friday mass.

The Jakarta Metro Police on April 14 announced that they prepared a security measure at big churches in Jakarta and the vicinity during the Good Friday and Easter celebrations.
