TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin assessed that West Sumatra needed to increase the number of interesting events and massive publications in order to attract domestic and foreign tourists.
He made the statement at the West Sumatra Community Cultural and Economic Development Workshop at Bukittingi’s Novotel Hotel on Tuesday, April 12, as quoted from a press release received in Jakarta, Wednesday.
“Tour packages published through various publication channels are important to attract the public, both at home and abroad, to visit tourist destinations in West Sumatra,” said the VP.
Ma'ruf reminded that the province has many good tourist attractions which must be well informed and published.
According to him, the potential for natural tourism, culinary arts, and cultural arts can be integrated into one tour package so as to provide efficiency and economic value for visitors. Thus, collaboration of all stakeholders is needed.
“In this case, I think the support, attention from the local government and authorities in the financial services sector and all stakeholders in the financial services industry in West Sumatra are the key to empowering the potential of this cultural arts-based tourism,” he remarked.
In the event initiated by the Financial Services Authority (OJK), Ma'ruf Amin also emphasized that support in publicizing the economic potential of West Sumatra can be done through e-commerce platforms as in line with the national movement of Bangga Buatan Indonesia (Proud of Indonesian Products).
