TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Waskita Toll Road (WTR), subsidiary of state-owned construction firm Waskita Karya, has commenced major preparations for the upcoming “mudik” season or the tradition of mass exodus at the end of Ramadan which is known by the name of Eid Homecoming. One of which is at the Trans Java toll through three of the toll’s main sections in Kanci-Pejagan, Pejagan-Pemalang, and Pemalang-Batang.
The president director of the three toll sections Supriyono in a statement on Wednesday said that they are preparing to overcome the traffic congestion at toll gates and main roads during the season that usually sees thousands of vehicles traveling through its toll facilities.
“We have increased the capacity of toll gates and provided services to top up electronic toll cards, along with adding the number of officials stationed there,” said Supriyono, Antaranews reported.
A functional toll section at the Pemalang-Batang area will also be operated to meet the number of vehicle traffic likely to occur. Rest areas to accommodate drivers and passengers have also been increased.
Supriyono also announced that regular maintenance has been implemented starting from toll road surfaces overlay and fixing asphalt sections that need repairs. A dedicated team tasked to patch broken asphalt sections will also be stationed during the “mudik” season.
