TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned energy firm PLN is aiming to produce 29 gigawatts from renewable energy (EBT) power plants by the year 2030 with 9 gigawatts already established this year from one EBT plant this year.
The company has also pledged to supply “green electricity” for electric vehicle producers that establish factories in Indonesia.
PLN president director Darmawan Prasodjo in a written statement said the current power plant is able to meet the needs of the green electricity industry, which aligns with the government’s goal to distribute the spread of green industrial areas across Indonesia.
“Currently, every industry is into the environmentally friendly-based energy and based on the green electricity supply general plan in 2021, PLN is ready to support the green industrial area through EBT power plants,” said Darmawan in his statement.
Apart from increasing the capacity of EBT plants, he stated that PLN is also open to partnerships in carbon trading through renewable energy certificates or REC.
“REC is an important instrument in reducing emissions. This partnership is proof that the industrial sector has taken an important role in the transition to renewable energy,” he added.
