TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta provincial government is discussing a number of proposals for the bill of the city specialty status (RUU Kekhususan Jakarta) as it will no longer hold the status of capital. The central government decided to move the capital to East Kalimantan.

“We have conducted a number of workshops within the provincial government to discuss the substance of the proposed bill,” said Jakarta regional secretariat assistant Sigit Wijatmoko on Monday, April 4.

The workshop was held on March 29-30 in Ancol. “We are preparing Jakarta as a global city and the center of the economy even though it is no longer the center of government,” he said.

There are eight sectors in the substance of the proposed bill, viz. mobility and logistics, economy, investment and spatial planning, community welfare, fiscal, environment, politics and government, digital economy, as well as preparations and support teams.

Sigit added that his side had established an internal team that will discuss the proposed bill which would be submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs.

According to him, the public could also actively participate in overseeing the proposed bill and access information related to the plan via the official page jakartakedepan.jakarta.go.id.

“As a city of collaboration, Jakarta opens wide opportunities for all people, both residing in Jakarta and outside Jakarta. People can voice their input about what must be improved, collaborative ideas for advanced Jakarta and others,” Sigit said.
