TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo inspected the stocks and sales price of bulk cooking oil at Wonokromo Traditional Market, East Java, on Saturday.

"Together with the Governor and the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) of East Java, we checked the distribution of bulk cooking oil, after some time ago there was a shortage and a fairly high price increase," he said after conducting the review, according to a written statement received on Saturday.

Based on the review and direct conversation with dozens of traders at Wonokromo Traditional Market, bulk cooking oil stocks from distributors have been distributed to traders to fulfill one week's needs, he noted.

The traders have expressed the hope that in the next week, bulk cooking oil stock can be sent to Wonokromo Market again, he said.

Therefore, he appealed to distributors of bulk cooking oil to meet the expectations of traders.

He stressed that producers and distributors are expected to accelerate the production and distribution of bulk cooking oil to the public during the holy month of Ramadan.

"We hope that in this month of Ramadan, bulk cooking oil, especially in the 26 priority markets, can be supplied on time and there will be no more shortages," he said.

The police chief urged police officers to continue conducting supervision and monitoring of bulk cooking oil to ensure the implementation of retail price ceiling (HET) for bulk cooking oil, which is Rp14 thousand per liter.

"I ask regional police chiefs to dispatch officers, both from the Regional Food Task Force and Bhabinkamtibnas (police's security and public order officers), to check which market whose stock is empty and inform immediately so we can convey the information to regional or central distributors," he said.
