TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police's Directorate of Special Economic Crimes is tracing other assets belonging to Indra Kenz, a suspect in the Binomo binary options fraud case, in the form of cryptocurrency worth IDR58 billion. The police have seized Indra's crypto assets totaling IDR55 billion.
Director of Special Economic Crimes Whisnu Hermawan said that the crypto assets were revealed during the investigation in tandem with the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK). He suspected that the value is subjected to increase.
"It is suspected that there is IDR58 billion in cryptocurrencies abroad. We will handle it quickly. It will further develop once PPATK finds more information," Whisnu said during a press conference at the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit, Jakarta on Friday, March 25, 2022.
The assets worth IDR55 billion that have been confiscated consist of IDR106 million in cash from PT Kursus Trading Indonesia, around IDR214 million in cash from the suspect's crypto account at Indodax, and around IDR924 million in cash from a BCA account as well as plots of land, cars, and watches.
The police have also seized a number of documents and proof of transactions, cellphones, and video content. According to Whisnu, all these assets are subject to increase since further investigations with PPATK and a number of other agencies including the OJK are still ongoing.
"For crypto assets, we have communicated with Indodax marketplace. There are IDR200 million. We have also communicated with Zenit, one of the alleged payment gateways. We are still tracing [Indra Kenz's assets] abroad with the help of PPATK," said Whisnu.
