Indonesia Issues New Entry Requirements for Foreign Travelers

24 March 2022 19:21 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Indonesian government continues to ease entry rules for foreign travelers entering the country as COVID-19 trends improve. The latest policy on the entry requirement is noted in the COVID-19 Task Force’s Circular No. 15 of 2022.

It outlines six entry gates via air, namely Soekarno Hatta Airport in Banten, Juanda Airport in East Java, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali, Hang Nadim Airport in Riau, Raja Haji Fisabilillah Airport in Riau, Sam Ratulangi Airport in North Sulawesi, and Zainuddin Abdul Madjid Airport in West Nusa Tenggara or NTB.

As for the sea entry points include Tanjung Benoa Port in Bali, Batam Port in Riau, Tanjung Pinang Port in Riau, Bintan Port in Riau, and Nunukan Port in North Kalimantan. Besides, travelers can pass land routes via Aruk in West Kalimantan, Entikong in West Kalimantan, and Motaain in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

The following are the entry requirements for international travelers:

- Foreign travelers are required to use the PeduliLindungi app and fill out an E-HAC form to prove the COVID-19 vaccination certificate taken at least 14 days before arrival.

- Unvaccinated travelers will be subjected to get vaccinated at the entry point after undergoing an RT-PCR test upon arrival or at a quarantine center after a second RT-PCR test with a negative result.

- Foreign travelers are required to present a negative PCR test result taken at least 2x24 hours before departure.

- Foreign travelers willing to undergo self-funded quarantine in a centered site are required to show proof of hotel payment.

- Foreign tourists must attach proof of ownership of health insurance according to the rules.

- Foreign travelers are required to undergo an RT-PCR test at the entry gate.

- Unvaccinated travelers or those who only received the first dose are required to pass a five-day quarantine and take a second RT-PCR test on the 4th day. If it turns out negative, they are allowed to end the quarantine.

- Foreign travelers who cannot be vaccinated due to health issues are allowed to enter by presenting a doctor's certificate and negative results of entry RT-PCR test.

- If the entry RT-PCR comes back positive, foreign travelers are required to isolate at home/hotel/central isolation facilities or at a COVID-19 referral hospital for those presenting moderate to heavy symptoms. They also must pay for the isolation costs, while for Indonesian citizens it is borne by the government.

All of the entry requirement policy takes effect starting March 23, 2022, until a later date.
